OMD -

Well, there's no excuse for me not to have a full written out blog each week anymore.

Hurrah for Quarantine.

While trying to find a film to cover this week's Obscure Movie Day, I realized the past few times I've been centered around Disney films.

I know - there are tons to choose from, but Disney seems to be the brand I've been sticking with. (Likely due to having worked there for abuot eight months and missing it horribly.)

A quickie about a favorite film of mine.

Well, two really. I'm sure I'm discussed them before, but I lagged on time today.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Treasure Planet

Based on myth and Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson respectively, these are two of my all time favorite films.

They capture the era in which they accounted for, the early 1900's and a futurisitc setting.

They both are heavily influenced by the Steampunk genrea, which I find absolutely amazing and underused.

They are both Disney films, though I'm certain there are many adaptations of both these in various formats.

Check them out today!

W.I.P. April Showers -

This time around it's not writing I've been working on. (Well I have been writing, just not as much.)

This week is a little peek at a project I've been working on for a while.

I drew the original piece back in 2014-15ish.

This is a little update using the software PaintToolSai.

Book Nook: The Ship of the Dead

It has officially been one month since I've returned home to quarantine.

One month away from one of the coolest places I've lived and worked.

What have I been doing in all that time, you may ask?

Absolu-Floggin-loutely-Nothing.

Well, I've been reading a lot. Snuggling with my furever Cat. Trying to survive.

Anyway, I heavily digress.

Today's novel is the final instalment in the Magus Chase chronicles!

Rick Riordan is one of my favourite authors. His introduction of Greek, Egyptian, Roman, and Norse mythology is amazing. It's had me running to my encyclopedia and checking my knowledge base.

This final entry into the Norse Mythological realms was amazing. I finished it within days (had to do other things in between reading).

SPOILERS AHEAD

We find our band of heroes preparing to embark on a voyage to prevent Loki from launching the Ship of the Dead! ... and subsequently Ragnarok.

This is my personal theory about why we won't get to see more of Mr Chase and his amazing friends: Ragnarok is the end of the world. If the world ended there wouldn't be any more stories to tell.

With many new encounters with old Norse gods and goddesses, it keeps you on your feet the entire time.

Not only new encounters, but old relationships starting and stopping with one coming a little out of left field (in my opinion, though I will go back and re-read them. Likely I wasn't picking up on the hints earlier in the novels).

Preventing Ragnarok is hard work, especially when you have a Banana yellow boat that attracts the eye of every monster and giant within a 200-mile radius.

Check out this last entry into the Magnus Chase series.

(Though it has been hinted there may be more. Who knows?)

And, once you've finished these three, look into the Trials of Apollo. :D

April's Slight Showers

Welcome to April - or the second month of March.

It's been three weeks since I returned from my internship and it's hitting hard.

My sleep schedule went down the drain. (Currently, around 1-3AM to Noonish.)

No job to speak of. (Unless you count caring for my cat.)

And trying to get things done. (Right, no motivation whatsoever.)

In this strange time, I find it's fun to rewatch old shows that I grew up with. Shows from the '90s and 2000s.

It's a good way to remind oneself that not everything is dark and dreary. Good times will come again.

This shall pass.

Maybe like a kidney stone, but it'll pass.

What are you folks up to? Leave a comment with your favorite indoor activity.
