O.M.D. Let's Go Old Fashioned

Most of the films I've been reviewing recently have been some old ones from way back.

Today is a short little blurb about a fun Western starring the great Duke.

Now, this film is a classic Western.

It was filmed back in 1963. With all the amazing things from the '60s.

The Duke himself. John Wayne. All of his Westerns are fantastic, but this is one of my favorites.

He plays alongside Maureen O'Hara.

Their pairing together in any film is a treat to see.

In this film they are a divorced couple, trying to live separate lives until their daughter comes home.

Things get a rocky however when mishaps occur and nothing is what it seems.

Go check it out.

What sort of film do you think I should watch for next month? Leave a comment below.

W.I.P. What a Load of -

 - WORDS!

Or Mermaids - either way it's gonna be a great month.

I do have a few mermaids I've been sketching per day - I have yet to post any of them though. We'll see how this post goes.

Here is a little insert of what I've kinda been up to.

With a new amount of energy that I didn’t know I had reserved, I pushed myself to the top. The door opened at my touch.

From the roof, which it clearly was, considering the view. I could see the entire city. It was spread before me like a giant canvas. A painting from which I had not seen the likes before, nor ever possibly see again. There was no comparison to what I now saw to any of the old Masters’ works.

I halted in my flight to gaze for a moment. The view was spectacular!

But what a second turned out to be was the last moments for the pursuit to catch up with me.

“There she is!”

Oh crap.

Without a backward glance I pulled out a coil of rope from my side, ran to the edge and flung myself off the roof.

There were panicked shouts from those above me and some below.

What are you up to this week?

Book Nook:

Today we all lucked out.

Due to circumstances, I was able to finish an entire novel today. While that is cause for joy, it was mostly due to being a little ill.

That's fine by me. It's been a while since I've had an entire day to myself to read.

Title: Dead Beat
Author: Jim Butcher
Series: The Dresden Files

SPOILERS AHEAD - though since it was published in 2005 I'm certain most of you have read this. (I'm a little behind the times here, gimme a break.)

In this tale, we find our friendly neighbourhood wizard dealing with multiple things:

    - his half-brother vampire who can't seem to hold a job
    - regaining control over a severely burned hand
    - a half-alive vampire threatening Murph
    - students of Kemmler
    - a silver coin with a demon
    - Necromancers
    - Halloween

With all this ahead of him, and only a few days to get the bad guys.

With everything coming down the line he manages to find the help of a mortician, his half-brother vampire, his huge shaggy dog, the Wardens (who knew, right?), and a plethora of others.

But something goods gotta come out of it, right?

It's just an average day for the resident private investigator Wizard.

I personally love this series. What are yours?

Revenge of the Fifth!

What an exciting day!

Yeserday was May the Fourth Be With You, er the 4th of May.

With this excellent day Disney+ released "The Rise of Skywalker".

I don't know about you, but I intend to watch it on repeat for a few days.

Star Wars is one of my favorite series in the world. I grew up watching the original trilogy with my parents. "Return of the Jedi" is still my all time favorite one.

With this new and final film in the Skywalker epic I realized that it's sorta been full circle for my family.

When my parents first began dating, one of their first outings was to see a new sci-fy film simply called "Star Wars".

This past winter I went to see "Rise of Skywalker" on one of my off days.

I took a few pictures before the showing and then after.

Sitting in the dark theater I felt a rush as I realized I had come full circle with the films. When the title screen came on and I heard that iconic theme I realized what this whole franchise meant to me.

This was a series I'd grown up with.

I hope this May brings you good fortune and something amazing!

And, as always, May the Force be with you.

Always.

(I am not paid to name drop. :D )
